Meet The Teachers

Teresa Foli is the founder and owner of Ballet Arts Center for Dance. She began dancing at the age of 5 and studied Ballet, Tap, & Jazz in Utah where she was a competitive dancer. After graduating high school she traveled with Hoctor’s Dance Caravan for a 13 week summer tour across the United States, performing, assisting class and studying with master teachers, including Tony Awards winning choreographer Thommie Walsh. She taught at numerous studios throughout Utah as well as upstate New York before marrying someone from Missouri brought her to the Midwest. She opened Ballet Arts in Chillicothe in 1992. Teresa loves teaching all levels of dance and is currently the director of the Competitive Dance Company at the studio. Ballet Arts Dance Company has received high honors at competition including best choreography, best precision, pest presentation as well as overall high score. Teresa’s passion for dance as well as a desire to empower the next generation is as motivating today as it was over 30 years ago.

Marissa Foli Scoggin

Marissa Foli Scoggin is a Chillicothe native. She has been involved in the dance world since the age of 2 as a dancer, teacher, and award-winning choreographer. She has taught at many studios including Ballet Arts Center for Dance, Eva Moore’s Performing Arts Center, Studio J School of Dance, & Cabot Dance Academy. She has been involved in the professional competition circuit as a backstage manager for Starpower National Talent Competition and has further continued her dance education through Dance Masters of America.

Katelyn Sullivan

Katelyn Sullivan started dancing at Ballet Arts in 2008 and graduated in 2022. During high school she participated in the CHS Dance Team where she was named captain during her junior and senior years. Katelyn started teaching classes at Ballet Arts after graduation and loves working with eager students. She is currently enrolled in North Central Missouri College in Trenton where she is a member of the NCMC Dance Wave.
